although not particularly impressed by the narrator.... i find that john gray, author of "straw dogs" and "black mass" reveals the abject failure of mankind both in the past and inexorably in the future to create a utopia.
it is especially interesting to me because this is most of what many cults are really all about.

it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

by minimus inlately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

by dissed injust finished watching a 'worlds apart' a danish movie portraying a young jw girl leaving the wt and dealing with the shunning of her family.
this was one of the last thoughts in the movie.
her final prayer to jehovah after being treated harshly by her family and elders.. "jehovah god, this is the last time we talk, because....i don't believe in you anymore".

From where? Morals.
by AK - Jeff inthere is great debate regarding the matter of morals/ethics, and this particularly true whenever there is interaction between religiously driven portions of a culture, and those who maintain no religious opinion or even subscribe to atheism.
that cultural clash occurs often on this forum and others like it.. believers in god often attribute moral choices with godliness.
yet, among billions who have lived without any attachment to god in the particular sense that is often considered the driving influence [christianity, islam, judaism, or other organized religion] there have always been men and women whose 'moral character' is above reproach, even when measured with a black/white index of religious thought.. morality holds an arbitrary position among mankind.
